Built in the 1830’s the house has been renovated to provide comfortable modern living while keeping its traditional features. The accommodation includes:

Fully fitted kitchen, living room with log burning stove, dining room with grand piano, downstairs loo & utility, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms.

There is a sunny terrace overlooking the valley with garden furniture and an enclosed garden beyond plus parking for 2 cars.

Places to Visit

Historic monuments, Castles, Gardens & Country Houses

Cragside, home to the inventor, Lord Armstrong, now a major NT property is just on the outskirts of Rothbury. Hadian’s wall, a UNESCO World Heritage site, Alnwick, Bamburgh and Walkworth Castles are all within an hours drive as are the renowned gardens at Alnwick, Belsay, Howick and Wallington.

The Coast

A large stretch of the North Northumberland Coast is An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with sandy beaches and amazing wildlife. You can take a boat trip to the Farne Islands to see the puffins and seals or drive the causeway to Holy Island.

The Northumberland National Park

Rothbury sits at the gateway to the National Park which offers wonderful wild scenery and walks off the beaten track – taking in Hadrian’s Wall, Kielder reservoir and forest as well as Coquetdale and the Cheviots.

Restaurants & Pubs

Rothbury and the surrounding villages have plenty of country pubs serving food and there are a range of restaurants and places for afternoon tea. The village boasts a Q butcher, a greengrocers, 2 bakeries and a deli all offering the best of local produce.

Rothbury has a golf course which welcomes visitors as do the tennis courts. Fishing, guided walks, farm visits, zoos and wildlife safaris are all available locally. Kielder Observatory offers ‘dark skies’ evenings
